Touchstone Advanced Composites Completes Major Expansion of its Triadelphia, West Virginia, Manufacturing Facility
Touchstone Advanced Composites, part of the Innovations business unit of Core Natural Resources (NYSE: CNR), today announced the completion of a major expansion of its Triadelphia, West Virginia, manufacturing facility during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the site. The expansion, which increases the facility’s size by approximately 30 percent and triples its cleanroom space for producing composite tooling and parts, will facilitate Touchstone’s continued growth as a critical supplier to the nation’s aerospace and defense industries.
“Core is pleased to be taking another step forward in the development of our Innovations business, while laying a strong foundation for future growth and job creation here in West Virginia and across the region,” said Jimmy Brock, Core’s chairman and CEO. “We are enthusiastic about the progress the Innovations team is making across a wide range of next-generation coal applications and products, with a particular focus on using domestic resources to meet national security and energy needs.”
“Today marks a significant milestone in Touchstone’s development,” said Dan Connell, president of Touchstone Advanced Composites. “Over the past few years, Touchstone has grown to become a full-service producer of high-performance materials, tooling, parts, and assemblies, with in-house engineering capabilities, all under one roof right here in West Virginia. This expansion, coupled with the recent addition of our Sawyer Composite business unit in Texas, elevates our profile in the aerospace and defense supply chain and positions us well to meet the rapidly growing demands of our customers and our nation.”
Touchstone manufactures high-performance tooling and parts for its aerospace and defense customers using its proprietary CFOAM® technology and other carbon and advanced materials. The company currently employs about 50 scientists, technicians, and skilled personnel in Triadelphia and has the potential – with the just completed facility expansion – to more than double its West Virginia workforce over the next three years.
Touchstone also operates a second facility in Fort Worth, Texas. Combined, the two locations now feature 75,000 square feet of manufacturing space and served more than 40 customers last year, including top defense contractors such as Northrop Grumman, Boeing, Anduril, Kratos, and Bell. Touchstone tooling and parts have been deployed in the development and manufacture of many of our nation’s advanced aircraft and spacecraft, including military aircraft such as the F-18, F-35, and B-21, as well as innovative applications such as NASA’s X-59 Quesst and Advanced Composite Solar Sail System, among many others.
